Step 1: Join a server with Scout
Join the GameTree Discord server or any server that has Scout installed. Get up and running with Scout in under 2 minutes.
Step 2: Create or join an LFG
Type /lfg to create a session for any game, or type /sessions to browse and join existing ones.
Step 3: Set your timezone
Type /preferences and click the Set Timezone button on the response. This is a one time setup.
You can create instant sessions without it, and relative times like “in 1 hour” work fine. But scheduling for a specific time, such as “8pm” or “Tuesday at 3pm”, needs your timezone so Scout knows what you mean.
Step 4: Connect your GameTree account (optional but recommended)
- Download the GameTree app at gametree.me and create an account.
- Sign in and link Discord from your GameTree profile. Scout picks the connection up automatically, so there is nothing to type in Discord.
Connecting unlocks better matching based on your game library, personality, and preferences. It also lets you manage a cross-platform friends list, and Scout can work out your timezone for you.
Step 5: Add friends
Type /friends add followed by a Discord or GameTree username to build your LFG friends list. Friends are scored and invited ahead of everyone else when you create a session.
Tips for the best experience
- Turn on Rich Presence in Discord settings so Scout can detect when you launch games.
- Set your status to Online: Scout only sends invites when Discord shows you as Online or Idle.
- Allow DMs from server members: Scout sends invites and notifications via DM.
