There are several ways to start playing with Scout.
Create a live session
Type /lfg. Scout opens a setup panel where you choose everything before the session goes live:
- Game: start typing to search. You can also pass it up front with
/lfg game: League of Legends. - Skill range: Any, Newbie, Casual, Intermediate, Advanced, or Expert. Some games have their own options, such as ranks and roles for Marvel Rivals.
- Start time: Now, In 30 minutes, In 1 hour, In 2 hours, Tonight (8pm), or Tomorrow.
- Max players: anything from 2 to 10.
- Region and Auto-bump toggles, then press Create Session.
Scout posts the session in your server’s LFG channel, creates a private voice and text channel for your group, and starts sending invites straight away. Invites go out in four waves over the first 90 seconds, so give it a moment before assuming nobody is around.
Schedule a session for later
Pick a future start time in the setup panel instead of Now. Scout posts the session immediately so people can RSVP, then creates the voice channel at start time.
For scheduled sessions, Scout sends reminders to everyone who joined at 1 hour and 10 minutes before the start, each with an Add to Calendar button. Invites are spread across the time between creating the session and its start time, so the session keeps getting fresh exposure as it approaches.
Scheduling for a specific clock time needs Scout to know your timezone, which comes from a linked GameTree account. The relative options, Now and In 30 minutes and In 1 hour and In 2 hours, work without one.
Set up a recurring session
Add the recurring option when you start the command:
/lfg game: Valorant recurring: every Tuesday at 3pm
Scout will post the session on that schedule for you instead of you creating it by hand each week.
Game detection prompts
If you have Rich Presence enabled in Discord, Scout notices when you launch a multiplayer game and sends you a DM with active sessions for that game, or an option to create one. You can snooze these prompts for 24 hours, or mute them for specific games.
Join an existing session
Type /sessions to browse active sessions. You can filter by game, platform, or timing. Sessions hosted by your friends are grouped at the top. Click Join on any live session, or RSVP on a scheduled one.
You will also receive invite DMs when friends or compatible players create sessions for games you play.
Managing your session
- /bump [number_of_players]: Need more players? Repost your LFG and send a fresh wave of invites. Tell Scout how many more to invite, from 1 to 20.
- /end: End your session. Scout cleans up all channels, posts, and invites. Only the host can end a session.
- Leave button: To leave a session you joined, use the Leave button on the session post or on the RSVP DM.
Sessions also end automatically about a minute after everyone leaves the voice channel. When a session that had other players wraps up, Scout sends a summary to the participants.
