Valorant Download Size and Storage Requirements (2026)

Valorant needs about 30 GB of free space on PC. The Unreal Engine 5 update in July 2025 cut the install to roughly half its old size, about 26 GB on a fresh install. On console, expect about 26.5 GB on PS5 and about 28 GB on Xbox Series X|S.

Valorant is six years old and still gets a patch every few weeks, plus new agents and maps through the year. Each update changes the file size a little. The biggest change came in July 2025, when Riot moved the game to Unreal Engine 5 and the install shrank by about half. Here is how much space Valorant needs now on PC and console, and what PC you need to run it.

How Big Is Valorant in 2026?

On PC, you first download a small installer from the official Valorant site. It installs the Riot Client, which then downloads the game.

Before July 2025, Valorant took close to 50 GB on PC. Patch 11.02 moved the game from Unreal Engine 4.27 to Unreal Engine 5.3. Riot said the game would take about half its previous disk space after the update. The update itself was a one-time download of about 30 GB, so keeping at least 30 GB free is a safe rule. How to Check Valorant’s Size Before You Install

On PC, run the installer from the official site. The Riot Client shows the install location and the space needed before the download starts. On PS5 or Xbox, open Valorant’s page in the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store to see the current size.

Why Does Valorant Take Up So Much Space?

Valorant looks simple, but it ships high-resolution textures, agent models, maps and voice lines in many languages. Every new agent, map and skin line adds a little. On PC, the Vanguard anti-cheat also installs alongside the game.

The good news: Valorant is much smaller than it was. The Unreal Engine 5 update cut the install roughly in half, and Riot said regular patch downloads would return to normal size after that update.

Storage Requirement: Does Valorant Require SSD?

No. Riot’s spec list does not require an SSD, and Valorant runs on a hard drive. An SSD still helps: maps and the client load faster, and you are less likely to load into a round late. If you have a small SSD, about 30 GB of free space is enough.

On Windows 11, TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot must be on. Riot’s Vanguard anti-cheat needs them. Your CPU must support SSE 4.2 or AVX. ARM processors are not supported.
