When I get bored of playing single-player games with dramatic plots, I often switch to multiplayer titles. Typically, I find people online and jump into the game from my Xbox. So, here, you will find the 20 best Xbox multiplayer games that you can play with friends or find strangers online. Different genres and different styles, but these games have one thing in common – exciting gameplay.

In the time since we initially published this article, the Xbox multiplayer landscape has evolved significantly. New and exciting titles have hit the market, offering fresh experiences for gamers to enjoy together. So, I’ve taken the opportunity to revisit our previous recommendations and curate an updated list of the latest and greatest Xbox multiplayer experiences.

Halo Infinite is a first-person shooter in a space sci-fi setting, the sixth main part of the Halo series. It tells the story of the adventures of the supersoldier Master Chief and his fight against the Exiled. Unlike previous parts of the series, the multiplayer mode here is free. It is still an excellent online shooter, and I often love to spend a couple of hours in the evenings in Halo Infinite.

The tense 4v1 dynamic, where survivors must cooperate to escape the Killer’s clutches, creates an exhilarating experience. The diverse cast of unique Killers and Survivors, along with the atmospheric environments, heighten the sense of dread and unpredictability. Ongoing support and regular content updates ensure a constantly evolving, highly replayable multiplayer experience for Xbox players.

18. Dark Souls: Remastered

This game is an action/RPG in the style of dark fantasy with high difficulty. Many gamers consider it to be among the best multiplayer games on Xbox Game Pass. Players explore a fictional kingdom affected by a curse. They need to find an approach not only to the game’s bosses but also to ordinary players, as the game does not forgive mistakes. If the conditions in the game are met, the player can invade the game of another player and either help them defeat a boss or fight them. The game is held in high esteem by PvP (Player vs. Player) fans, as there are many classes, different builds, and requirements for the player’s skill. There are also PvP zones where players gather and fight each other.

17. Divinity: Original Sin 2

Divinity: Original Sin II is a party-system fantasy RPG that is the sequel to Divinity: Original Sin. However, it is not obligatory to know the events of the first game; the new title is an independent part. The cross-play game gives you a cool board gaming experience on the screen. With up to 4 players, it’s a lot of fun to clear dungeons, fight dragons, and save a fantasy world.

16. Forza Horizon 4

Forza Horizon 4 is an arcade racing game with a dynamic system of day and night, as well as weather and seasons that affect the gameplay. All events take place in the UK. This collection tells about the adventures of the super-soldier Master Chief and his virtual companion, the artificial intelligence Cortana. The multiplayer mode includes all maps and modes originally released with each game.

Minecraft is a famous sandbox block game that needs no introduction. Alone or with friends in co-op, you can play it both as a survival game and advance through the story in a procedurally generated world. Or, you can simply build whatever you want in the construction mode.

8. Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 is another legendary series of fighting games like Mortal Kombat but with a higher entry barrier and a focus on esports competitions and leaderboards. However, it is also an excellent fighting game for casual gatherings. MK and SF have been my favorite fighting games since childhood, which still have a high level of quality. So, I consider them the best multiplayer games on Xbox in their genre.

7. Diablo IV

Diablo 4 is one of the best Xbox multiplayer games, offering a deep, addictive loot-driven gameplay, seamless cooperative experience, and expansive, atmospheric world. The game’s engaging class system, challenging combat, and dynamic shared world make it a standout in the genre, catering to both solo and group play. Diablo 4 is suitable for mature audiences, with its dark, gothic themes and intense, action-packed combat. The game’s robust end-game content and continuous updates ensure a thrilling and rewarding multiplayer experience for Xbox players.

Fortnite is the most popular fun multiplayer game on Xbox in a pleasant cartoon style with the ability to build various structures. The game invites players to take part in a massive battle on a vast map, alone or in groups of two to four people.

3. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a multiplayer game on Xbox available with Game Pass. It’s a horror game based on the film series of the same name. You take on the role of one of the members of the Slaughter family or their victims in an asymmetrical third-person horror game. The game features both co-op and PvP modes.
