Helldivers 2 Crossplay: Yes, Across PC, PS5 and Xbox

Yes, Helldivers 2 has full crossplay between PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Crossplay is on by default, and you add friends on other platforms with an in-game friend code. There is no cross-progression, so your level and Warbonds stay on the platform where you earned them.

Helldivers 2 launched on PC and PS5 in February 2024 and arrived on Xbox Series X|S on August 26, 2025. Though I’ve already written a bunch of reviews about it, I still play it most evenings with friends, solo or in a squad of up to four. So, is Helldivers 2 crossplay?

Yes. All three platforms play together, and crossplay is on by default. What does not carry over is your progress: there is no cross-progression or cross-save. Below, we cover how to add friends on other platforms, how to fix common crossplay problems, and where cross-progression stands.

Does Helldivers 2 Have Crossplay?

Yes. Helldivers 2 has crossplay between PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so all players share the same missions and matchmaking. Crossplay is automatic. To squad up with a friend on another platform, add them with a friend code and send a party invite through the Social menu. Players who only want to match with their own platform can turn crossplay off.

How To Use Helldivers 2 Cross Platform To Play With Friends

Crossplay is on by default for every player. To play with a friend on another platform:

1. Check that crossplay is on: Options > Gameplay > Crossplay.
2. Open the Social menu from your ship.
3. Select Friend Code and generate a code.
4. Send the code to your friend. They enter it to send you a friend request.
5. Accept the request in the Pending tab, then invite them to your party.

To turn crossplay off, go to Options > Gameplay and switch it off. You will then only match with players on your own platform.

Helldivers 2 Crossplay Issues And How To Fix Them

Crossplay works well for most squads, but cross-platform friend requests can still fail now and then. If a request does not show up, try the fixes below. They are player workarounds, not official fixes. For problems finding a match, see our matchmaking guide.

Solving The Helldivers 2 Crossplay Issue

• Try sending a friend request several times, cancelling the previous request, and sending a new one to a fresh friend code. See if the problem goes away.
• Check whether the problem is affecting just one or more of your friends by sending multiple requests to different friends.
• It’s also worth trying to restart the game, turning crossplay off and on in the game options, and sending or accepting a friend request again.

Bug Workarounds

If none of the options fix the problem and Helldivers 2 crossplay is not working, you can try the simple workaround below, which may help resolve the issue while you wait for a new patch.

1. You need to create an open lobby and ask all your friends to join it at the same time. If there are three or two of you, join the same existing mission that only has one player. 
2. Ask one player to start the mission, and the other three players immediately try to join in. In order for the other three players to see the host’s mission, they need to choose the same planet and the same difficulty as the host.
3. If a random player joins you, the host may kick them out of the mission. 
4. Once you all join, you will be grouped and can continue to complete missions together for the rest of the session. 

What Developers Say

In 2024, Arrowhead said fixing cross-platform friend requests was one of its main concerns. On cross-progression, the message is less hopeful: in November 2025, community manager Katherine Baskin said on the official Discord, “We have no plans to add cross progression currently.” CEO Shams Jorjani added that the studio would “love to add cross-platform progression, but other things take priority.”

Does Helldivers 2 Have Cross-Progression And Cross-Save?

No. Helldivers 2 has no cross-progression or cross-save on any platform. If you switch from PS5 to PC or Xbox, you start again at level one and need to buy Warbonds again. At launch, Arrowhead’s then-CEO Johan Pilestedt said the team cut cross-progression because they did not expect enough interest, and that it would “probably” come later. As of November 2025, Arrowhead says there are no plans to add it.

Final Thoughts

Helldivers 2 is better with friends, and full crossplay means it does not matter whether they play on PC, PS5 or Xbox. Share a friend code, invite them to your ship, and spread some managed democracy together. Just remember that progress does not transfer between platforms, so pick your main platform before you sink in hundreds of hours.
