Rocket League Teammate Finder

That Actually Gets Your Rank

Solo queue is fine until it is not. One bad teammate in Champ lobbies and you are back to muting mic spam and hoping the next randoms can rotate. GameTree matches you with Rocket League players on rank, playstyle and platform, so the people you queue with actually fit how you play. Open the web app, set your preferences, and start finding teammates who stick around past one match.

Worth Keeping

Ranked Duo Trio Squad
  • Matches in rank

Most "teammate finder" tools show you a wall of usernames and leave the filtering to you. GameTree does the filtering first. Tell it your rank, whether you play 2v2 or 3v3, and whether you are grinding ranked or just messing around in Extra Modes, and it surfaces RL players who actually match that. You are not sorting through hundreds of profiles hoping one replies. You get people worth adding. Rank matters here because RL has a real rank restriction, covered in detail further down this page, and playstyle matters because a Diamond player who only wants competitive 2v2 sweats is a bad fit for someone who wants to freestyle in casual. GameTree accounts for both before it ever suggests a match.
  • What GameTree Does

GameTree is a matchmaking app built around your actual play habits, not just your rank. Answer a few questions about how you play Rocket League, and the app builds a profile it uses to match you with teammates who fit. It works through the browser web app, on iOS and Android, and through a Discord bot if your crew already lives on Discord. Over 1.5 million users are already on it, which means there is a real pool of RL players to match against, not a ghost town.

Planning Sessions With Your Squad

Finding a teammate is only half the problem. Getting everyone online at the same time is the other half. GameTree lets you set up sessions in advance so your crew knows when you are queuing, whether that is a Saturday ranked grind or a casual scrim. Once you have got a squad you like, keep the thread going instead of re-finding the same three people every week.

Reimagine Rocket League LFG With GameTree

Old-school LFG means posting in a Discord channel and hoping someone with your rank happens to be online. GameTree flips that. Instead of broadcasting into a channel and waiting, you set your preferences once and the app keeps working in the background, matching you against RL players who fit your rank and platform. It is LFG that does not require you to babysit a channel.

Ease Of Use

Set up takes a few minutes. Pick your platform, your rank, your playstyle, and GameTree takes it from there. No spreadsheets, no manually cross-referencing rank badges in a Discord server with 900,000 members hoping someone notices your message.

Clubs Vs Finding New Teammates

Which Ranks Can Play Together In Rocket League

This is the part almost nobody explains right, and it changes who you should even bother trying to team up with.

Rocket League’s rank restriction only applies in one specific case: two players queuing together in 3v3 Standard competitive, or 3v3 Standard tournaments. That is it. If you are a duo queuing 3v3 ranked, the two of you need to be within 3 ranks of each other. Ranks, not divisions. Divisions do not count toward the gap at all.

Epic’s own examples make this clearer than most explainers do. A Platinum 3 player and a Diamond 3 player are a 3 rank gap apart, and they can queue together. A Platinum 2 player and a Diamond 3 player are a 4 rank gap apart, and they cannot.

The rank ladder, low to high: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Champion, Grand Champion, Supersonic Legend. Every rank except Supersonic Legend has three tiers.

Here is what most players miss. That restriction does not apply to 2v2 at all. It does not apply to Extra Modes. And it does not apply to a full three player party in 3v3, only to a duo. So two friends at wildly different ranks can play 2v2 ranked together with zero restriction, and a full trio can queue 3v3 together with no rank gap rule either. The only situation that actually blocks you is two players trying to queue 3v3 Standard as a duo.

Knowing this changes who is worth adding as a teammate. If you are Platinum and your friend is Grand Champion, 2v2 is wide open. If you both want 3v3, you need a gap of 3 ranks or less, or you need a third player to round out the party.

Rocket League has a built in Clubs feature, supporting up to 20 members, and when two full clubs face off it triggers a Club Match that shows both clubs’ names and colours on screen. Clubs

are great once you already have a team. They give you a shared identity and a way to track who you play with regularly.

What Clubs does not do is help you find people in the first place. There is no built in matchmaking system in Rocket League for meeting strangers who might be good teammates. That is the actual gap. You need somewhere to find RL players worth inviting into a club before a club means anything. GameTree, and RL Discord communities more broadly, exist to fill exactly that gap. Once you have found people worth playing with regularly, a Club is where that relationship lives long term.

What does LFG mean in Rocket League?
+
-

LFG stands for Looking For Group. It is the shorthand RL players use when they are posting in Discord or elsewhere trying to find people to team up with for a match or a session. GameTree does the same job as an LFG post, except it matches you on rank and playstyle instead of you scrolling a channel hoping someone replies.

Do I need Discord to use GameTree?
+
-

No. The browser web app and the iOS and Android apps all work as standalone tools, no Discord account required. If your friend group already runs on Discord, GameTree also has a Discord bot you can add, but it is optional, not a requirement to use the platform.

Can console players use GameTree?
+
-

Yes. GameTree works for PlayStation and Xbox players the same as it does for PC. Rocket League itself has full crossplay across PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, so a match GameTree makes for you is not limited by platform in the first place.

How do I find a duo partner for Rocket League?
+
-

Set your rank and platform in GameTree and specify you are looking for 2v2. Since the rank restriction only bites in 3v3 duo queue, a 2v2 duo has no rank gap to worry about at all, which makes it the easiest way to lock in a regular partner.

How do I find Rocket League teammates?
+
-

Open GameTree, fill in your rank, platform and playstyle, and the app matches you against RL players with a similar profile. From there you message, agree on a time, and queue up. It replaces posting into a crowded channel and hoping.

Is GameTree free to use?
+
-

Yes. The browser web app, the iOS and Android apps, and the Discord bot all cost nothing to use. You can set up a profile and start matching without paying for anything.

Can I play ranked with a friend who is a much higher rank?
+
-

In 2v2 and Extra Modes, yes, with no restriction at all. A Platinum player and a Grand Champion can queue 2v2 ranked together. The only place it becomes a problem is a duo queuing 3v3 Standard, where the two of you have to be within 3 ranks. Add a third player and that restriction disappears.

How do I find people to play Rocket League with if my friends are all offline?
+
-

This is the exact problem GameTree exists for. Instead of waiting for friends to log on, you set your rank and preferences once and get matched with other RL players doing the same thing, any time you are online.

Does rank actually matter when picking a tm8?
+
-

For 3v3 duo queue, yes, RL enforces a hard 3 rank gap limit. For 2v2 and Extra Modes, no restriction applies at all. So the honest answer is: it depends entirely on which mode you are queuing.

Where can I find a Rocket League community outside of official channels?
+
-

GameTree has its own Discord server where RL players hang out, alongside the app's matching features. It is a smaller, more focused alternative to the official Rocket League Discord, which is useful if you want less noise and a better shot at actually getting noticed.
