Last War Season 6 Guide: Five Altars & Devastating Losses

Five Altars and Permanent Losses: The Structure Behind Last War’s Sixth Season

Last War Season 6 Shadow Rainforest Altars

Shadow Rainforest, the sixth season of Last War: Survival, rewrote the rules of alliance warfare. Notebookcheck broke down the update on 4 June. Its report describes a season that revolves around five capturable Altars and cities that stay destroyed once they fall. Last War depends on big groups of players who coordinate with each other. These two changes dump a lot more responsibility on the people who lead those groups.

How the Altars Work

FunFly placed all five Altars in the central Great River Zone. Notebookcheck explains that an alliance can attack one without owning any land next to it, so surprise assaults now work in a way earlier seasons never allowed. You can’t use an Altar as a stepping stone to grab neighbouring territory, though. And no alliance can hold more than three at once.

Every Altar hands a skill to one specific alliance role. The level one Cobra Altar gives the Recruiter a shield called Cobra Barrier. The Echo Altar lets the Muse summon a Night Army against rival bases. The Gust Altar arms the Warlord with an attack named Serpent Breath. The Feather Altar lets the Butler call down lightning strikes. At level five, the Treehaven Altar allows the Alliance Leader to reset spent skill cooldowns. So officer titles now carry real tactical weight. An alliance needs the right people online at the right moment, or the skill goes unused.

That comes with a social cost. A group that once got by with a handful of active leaders now juggles five named roles, each tied to its own skill. The cap of three forces hard choices about which Altars deserve defending. Smaller alliances can still take a swing, since they can hit an Altar from anywhere on the map. Holding one afterwards poses a much tougher problem.

Losses That Stay Lost

City destruction brings the second big change. Conquer a settlement and the game erases it for the rest of the season, which raises the price of every regional fight. The update also scrapped the popular 4+1 hybrid squad setup in the Global Expedition mode. Players now have to commit to pure Tank, Missile, or Aircraft formations and back them with tactical cards.

A season like this rewards bases that players have developed over a long period. That partly explains why progressed bases change hands. On third-party trading sites, a last war survival account for sale usually comes with details of its level and progression, and publisher FunFly plays no part in the trade.

The Wider Live Schedule

Seasons form only one layer of what keeps Last War players busy. Udonis, a mobile marketing agency that tracks the game, names Alliance Duel, Zombie Siege and Arms Race among the recurring events that pull players back in, along with seasonal collaborations. PocketGamer.biz has credited earlier additions such as Overlord Training, Frontline Breakthrough and Winter Storm Battlefield for part of the game’s rapid growth in 2024.

The ride has moved fast. FunFly launched Last War globally on 2 August 2023, and AppMagic estimates that players have installed it 192.5 million times since.

A Community Under Pressure

The season arrived just as the game’s commercial numbers turned south. MobileGamer.biz reported AppMagic estimates showing that Last War earned about $56.7 million from in-app purchases in August. That ranked it 11th among mobile games and gave it its lowest monthly figure since February 2024. Through March, the game had earned $130 million to $150 million a month.

Plenty of people still play. Udonis’ AppMagic data counted 16.2 million monthly active users in May, down from a January peak of 27.7 million. Monthly downloads have dropped from 11.9 million at their best to about 2 million. The same data paints the typical player as an adult between 25 and 44 and names the United States, South Korea and Japan as the biggest markets. Services have grown up around that audience too, and Buyacc, an independent marketplace for buying and selling game accounts, lists Last War next to MLBB and PUBG Mobile.

FunFly keeps the live schedule moving. An August update introduced the Crystal Event, which asks players with a level 20 base to build a Crystal Factory. Servers need to have reached the first day of the Season 1 pre-season before the event opens. The studio’s official channels also announced maintenance for another update on 16 September.

Alliances in the middle of Shadow Rainforest face the same picture either way: five Altars, a cap of three, and cities that don’t come back. Looking to coordinate active players and fill officer roles across your servers? Recruit and organize your squad with the GameTree Discord LFG Bot.
