Let’s learn more about the Black Ops 6 ranked play together!
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Ranked Play Release
The release date of the Ranked Play in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was November 21, 2024. This time, the ranked mode was released earlier than in previous games in the Call of Duty series. However, according to rumors on Reddit, the launch of the Black Ops 6 ranked play did not go smoothly as it was already filled with cheaters, and later, the developers will need to deal with this problem.
List Of All Black Ops 6 Ranks And Skill Divisions
In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the rank ladder consists of 8 divisions, each of which, except for the last two, is divided into 3 tiers. All players start equally with the initial rank of Bronze I and with 0 Skill Rating (SR).

How To Unlock Ranked Play?
The approach to accessing the Black Ops 6 ranked play has been changed. In Modern Warfare III, in order to be able to play ranked games, a player had to reach level 55. In Black Ops 6, in order to unlock ranked matches, a player first needs to win 50 standard multiplayer playlist matches. The key is exactly 50 wins, not just matches played.
In order to check your progress and unlock ranked play, you need to:
- Go to the Black Ops 6 main menu.
- Look at the bottom of your main menu screen and find the Ranked Play button there.
- If you see a progress bar, then you still need to earn wins. If there is no bar, then you can simply click on the button and start ranking up.
How Does The Black Ops 6 Ranked System Work?
The Black Ops 6 ranked play is a competitive 4v4 mode in Call of Duty that follows all the Call of Duty League rules. In addition, the game uses the SMBB model in matchmaking, which means that players are selected in the lobby by their hidden MMR, not by their visible rank. MMR is a cumulative parameter responsible for the players’ skill.
Players participate in matches on certain maps and in certain modes, earning SR points in case of victory or losing them in case of loss and thus moving up the ranked ladder. You can queue both solo and with two or three people or a full squad of 4 players. In addition, remember that when you are looking for game partners in a group of 2 or more, the matchmaking system in the lobby will select players by the highest skill among the players in your team.
What Is SR?
Skill Rating or SR is the points a player earns for winning ranked games. They are used to climb up the ranked ladder. Players start at Bronze with 0 SR and advance through the eight ranks as they earn enough points for each milestone. Players lose SR when they lose a game, and the amount of SR a player earns or loses is affected by their MMR as well as their current rank.
Map And Mode Veto
Black Ops 6 uses specific maps and modes that are familiar to all Call of Duty players. In the future, these maps may change depending on updates or community feedback and voting.
Here is a list of all the Black Ops 6 ranked maps and modes in the first season.
Game mode | Maps |
---|---|
Search & Destroy | Protocol, Red Card, Rewind, Skyline, Vault |
Control | Protocol, Vault |
Hardpoint | Protocol, Red Card, Rewind, Skyline, Vault |
Forfeit
Another new feature in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 ranked mode is that you can now save time if you understand that you’re gonna lose this match and have zero chances against the enemy team. All players on the team must vote for forfeit in order to surrender. This way, you don’t have to spoil your mood by playing a game you’re sure to lose. It will be counted as a standard loss, which does not result in SR penalties or a temporary suspension.
You can start voting for forfeit under the following conditions:
- Hardpoint: After the winning team has scored 100 points.
- Control: After the 1st round.
- Search & Destroy: After the 3rd round.
Party Skill Restrictions
Full parties of four can now play together in Ranked Play regardless of their individual ranks in Black Ops 6. However, matchmaking will be based on the highest rank in the party. Party skill restrictions still apply to parties of two or three players:
- Bronze to Platinum: Players can play together without any restrictions.
- Diamond: Players can join a party up to 2 ranks.
- Iridescent (including Top 250) and Crimson: You can party up to 1 rank.
Loss Forgiveness
Another innovation in Black Ops 6 Ranked Play is Loss Forgiveness – now the first ranked game of the day in case of a defeat will be considered as a warm-up and will not cause SR loss.
Rank Reset
Players with a Bronze or Silver rank will not be affected by the seasonal setback and will be able to continue the new season at the same rank they left at, with no skill rating penalty. Players with a Gold or Platinum rank will start the next season at Gold or Platinum I, respectively.

How To Rank Up Fast In Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6
Here, everything is simple and complicated at the same time because the fastest way to rank up in Black Ops 6 is to keep winning. Here are some recommendations from me:
- In order to play better, you obviously need to practice more and improve your mechanical skills.
- You will not be able to steadily grow your Back Ops 6 rank by playing with randoms. You need to find a group of friends with whom you will constantly play and train together. Only in this case will your individual skill and the team skill as a whole grow.
- Study the maps for ranked play in Black Ops 6 in detail and work on communication. You must know exactly where the enemy is, what this place on the map is called correctly, and how to quickly and concisely convey this information to your team. Good team play is the key to victory, and this becomes especially relevant at high Black Ops 6 ranks.
- Work on your mistakes and analyze your replays so as not to repeat mistakes in the future.
- Watch the game of professionals. You can learn many useful things by watching the game of people who have dedicated all their time to this game and achieved the highest results.
