Is Phasmophobia Cross-platform?

Yes, Phasmophobia is cross-platform since October 2024 with its release on platforms like Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 with PlayStation VR2. Previously, the game was available on PC only.

About Phasmophobia Console Release

Since the early access in Steam in September 2020, players have been eagerly awaiting the developers to add Phasmophobia console crossplay. The release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S was set for the end of October 2024, just in time for Halloween, and we’re glad it’s finally here. For PSVR 2 owners, this is also good news, as the game also features VR compatibility.

Is Phasmophobia Crossplay?

Yes, the console versions of Phasmophobia supports crossplay with both the PC version and each other. This means that PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC players can team up together in a single session to hunt ghosts. Also, console players can communicate with PC players using in-game voice functions, which is very important for exchanging hints during the game.

VR and Non-VR Crossplay

One of Phasmophobia’s most impressive technical achievements is its seamless integration between VR and non-VR players. Unlike many games that separate these player bases, Phasmophobia allows ghost hunters to team up regardless of their chosen input method.

When VR and non-VR players join the same lobby, they experience the same haunted locations with some key differences in interaction:

• VR players navigate the environment using physical movements, with the ability to grab, throw, and manipulate equipment with their hands. They can peek around corners, physically crouch behind furniture, and use natural gestures to interact with the environment.
• Non-VR players use traditional keyboard/mouse or controller inputs, with context-sensitive prompts for equipment manipulation and interaction.

Despite these different control schemes, the core gameplay remains consistent – both player types can communicate with ghosts, collect evidence, and experience the same paranormal events.

Is There Cross-progression In Phasmophobia?

No, unfortunately, cross-progression and cross-save functionality in Phasmophobia are not avaliable at launch, but there’s still some hope/ as the features might be added later on. We are really hoping that the team at Kinetic Games will make sure that all your progress, achievements, and items will be saved and transferable between different platforms. 

How To Play Phasmophobia Cross-platform?

Crossplay in Phasmophobia is totally optional and can be turned on or off in the game settings. So, if you want to play exclusively with friends on the same platform, you can disable crossplay. Just keep in mind that with Phasmophobia crossplay turned off, it might take a bit longer to find a game.
